Lazzarini stated at a press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty during their meeting in Cairo on Saturday: “We are not confident that UNRWA will be able to continue its work until the end of the year due to the poor financial situation.”

He added, “UNRWA will not be able to solve the hunger problem in Gaza because of the ongoing bombing.”

On August 24, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) considered, on Sunday, hunger as the “latest disaster to hit the Gaza Strip.”

Lazzarini emphasized promoting a different narrative, allowing humanitarian organizations to provide assistance without restrictions, and permitting international journalists to independently cover events in Gaza.
