It was noted that its danger increases the risk of accidental or illicit use. Local authorities urged avoiding touching or uprooting the plant without protective measures, warning of the possibility of toxins being absorbed through the skin or transferred to the eyes and mouth.
They affirmed their ongoing efforts to monitor and remove the plant from affected areas, aiming to protect residents and the environment from this increasing threat. It is noteworthy that the ‘Datura’ plant is characterized by its broad leaves and white or purple trumpet-shaped flowers, but it poses a significant danger, as its toxins can cause symptoms such as dry mouth, dilated pupils, hallucinations, and in severe cases, respiratory failure if not treated immediately.
