US-EU Trade Agreement Deadline Set for August 1st

This came after a ‘final deadline’ was set to provide an opportunity for negotiations with a number of countries regarding trade imbalances between them and the United States. Trump wrote on his Truth Social account today, Wednesday: ‘The first of August (next) is the final deadline, and it stands firmly and will not be extended.’

Sebastian Gorka, the Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council in the White House, stated that the new trade agreement between America and the European Union means Europe is subject to the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced reaching a trade agreement with the European Union to reduce tariffs to 15%, a step that ends months of tension and uncertainty regarding trade relations with the United States’ largest trading partner.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and U.S. President Donald Trump reached a trade agreement on July 27, which subjects nearly all EU exports to a 15% tariff from the United States.

The agreement does not include the removal of the existing 50% U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum, but they could be reduced as a result of further negotiations, according to media reports citing a senior U.S. official.
