Araqchi stated during a press conference held in Tunisia today, Thursday, that the International Atomic Energy Agency acknowledged the need to adopt new cooperation mechanisms with Iran.
In a separate context, Araqchi strongly condemned the recent Israeli military strike on Qatar, describing it as part of a series of Israeli aggressions that include Iran, Yemen, and Palestine. He expressed his appreciation for Tunisia’s supportive stance towards Iran in condemning the Israeli attack, praising its solidarity with the Iranian people.
He also highlighted the development of bilateral relations between Iran and Tunisia, announcing that both parties have reached agreements to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, healthcare, science, and culture. Araqchi noted that the two countries agreed to hold the joint economic committee in Tehran for the first time in over 11 years.
During a televised interview broadcast by Iranian state television, Araqchi explained that “this agreement in itself does not allow access,” indicating that any “entry of inspectors requires subsequent negotiations based on the reports provided by Iran, to determine the nature and timing of this access.” The minister pointed out that “the agreement explicitly recognizes the Iranian Parliament’s law regulating cooperation with the agency,” emphasizing that “any steps will be taken in accordance with this legal framework.”
He added that “the document also acknowledges the ratification process set by the parliament, which requires the approval of the Supreme National Security Council for any measures related to cooperation with the agency.” Araqchi concluded by affirming that “coordination of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency will continue according to this path, adhering to the regulations imposed by Iranian law.”
