The announcement was made via a post by Ambassador Ali Zada on the ‘X’ platform, revealing that the first direct flight on the Baku-Tabriz-Baku route has already taken off, following directives from the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. He added that these flights will operate twice a week in their initial phase.
Meanwhile, the national airline ‘AZAL’ confirmed in an official statement the resumption of its regular flights on the Baku-Tehran-Baku route starting today, Saturday, September 1, 2025. According to the statement, flights on this route will operate four times a week, on Saturdays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
The company also announced the expansion of its network by launching a new direct air route between Baku and Tabriz starting from September 3, 2025, with flights on this route operating twice a week, every Wednesday and Sunday.
This development is considered an important step towards enhancing tourism and economic ties between the two neighboring countries, after a long period of halted direct flights.
