Barak said in a post on his account on the ‘X’ platform, ‘We urge all parties in Syria to maintain calm and resolve disputes through dialogue,’ emphasizing that ‘diplomacy is the optimal path.’ In July, Barak clarified that ‘in Syria’s As-Suwayda Governorate, there is an incredible amount of concern, pain, empathy, and assistance,’ stressing that ‘the Syrian government should be held accountable.’
Meanwhile, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced yesterday, Sunday, that what it described as ‘gangs in As-Suwayda’ were involved in several areas, indicating that attacks on internal security forces in the governorate resulted in the death and injury of several of its members.
On July 19, the Syrian presidency announced, calling on all parties, without exception, to ‘fully commit to this decision and immediately cease all combat operations in all regions, ensuring the protection of civilians and securing the delivery of humanitarian aid without any obstacles.’
Conversely, in As-Suwayda, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yisrael Katz pledged in a joint statement ‘to prevent any harm to the Druze in Syria, stemming from the deep fraternal alliance with the Druze in Israel.’
