Israeli Army Intercepts Drones from Yemen

Israeli Channel 13 reported this evening, Tuesday, that the Israeli army issued a statement confirming the interception of 4 drones launched from Yemen towards Israeli territory. The army stated in its announcement that air defenses had shot down a fourth drone that was headed for the city of Eilat on the Red Sea.

Media outlets explained that sirens were sounded earlier today before the army announced it had intercepted the four drones. On July 28, Ansa’Allah announced an escalation of attacks on Israel and the beginning of the fourth phase of the “naval blockade on Israel,” threatening to target ships belonging to any company dealing with Israeli ports, regardless of their nationality, and anywhere within the group’s reach, in response to ongoing Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.

In late July, Abdel Malek Al-Houthi revealed that his forces had launched 1,679 missiles, drones, and warships at Israel and ships linked to it and the US and UK since November 2023. The Ansa’Allah group has been conducting attacks on Israel and ships associated with it and the United States and Britain in the Red Sea since November 2023, in response to the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.

Since Tel Aviv resumed its military operations in the Gaza Strip on March 18, Ansa’Allah in Yemen has intensified its attacks on Israel and ships linked to it and the UK. This prompted US forces to carry out hundreds of airstrikes on the group’s locations in Yemen before the group and Washington reached a ceasefire agreement on May 6. However, Ansa’Allah confirmed that the agreement does not include operations against Israel.

Since September 2014, the Ansa’Allah group has controlled most of the central and northern Yemeni provinces, including the capital, Sanaa. An Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia launched military operations on March 26, 2015, to support the Yemeni army in reclaiming those areas from the group’s control.
