Al-Salhi, in statements to ‘Sputnik’, pointed out that ‘Israel continues to target with assassinations and killings, which has become the official policy of the Israeli government more than ever before.’ Al-Salhi added that ‘this targeting represents a direct violation of the sovereignty of an Arab country, a blatant and unprecedented violation of this sovereignty, especially as Qatar plays a pivotal role in the mediation process to cease fire since the beginning of the war.’ He emphasized that ‘this targeting is a challenge to all international norms and laws in this regard.’ Dr. Al-Salhi confirmed that ‘Israel does not desire any process to cease fire and continues with genocide and displacement, and even rejected the proposal presented by the United States of America.’ Regarding the impact of the incident on future negotiations, Al-Salhi explained that ‘it undoubtedly sends a clear message that Israel does not want to negotiate, even if the proposals come from the American president himself with full coordination with Israel.’ Al-Salhi believes that ‘the United States is either entirely complicit with Israel, playing a role of deception and secondary tactics to serve Israel, or America itself finds no response from the Israeli government to what it proposes.’ Al-Salhi considered that ‘this incident is a mockery of the American president himself,’ adding: ‘When the president of a superpower presents a proposal, and the one discussing this proposal is targeted, it means either the American president plays a deceptive role against Hamas for Netanyahu’s government or that Israel pays no heed to the American president’s proposals.’ He added: ‘The leaders targeted were leading Hamas’ terrorist activities over the years and bear direct responsibility for the acts of October 7, 2023, and managing the war against Israel.’ The Israeli army continued in its statement: ‘The army and Shin Bet will continue to act decisively until the organization responsible for October 7 is eliminated.’ Earlier, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened to eliminate Hamas leaders abroad amid the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
