Leonardo DiCaprio, the renowned Hollywood actor, has stated he has “no regrets” over choosing to star in James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster Titanic instead of taking a role in Boogie Nights, as reported by People.

In a recent Deadline interview, the 51-year-old actor addressed past comments that hinted at missing Boogie Nights being his “greatest regret.”

“I believe my response was influenced by discussing with Paul Thomas Anderson. Without delving too deeply into my personal life, the question posed was, ‘What do you regret most?’ We were discussing movies, and it stemmed from my long-standing admiration for his work,” DiCaprio explained, referencing his remarks from Esquire’s Mavericks of Hollywood issue in August.

Reflecting on Anderson’s film, DiCaprio remarked, “I vividly remember that movie as a defining moment for my generation. It marked the emergence of a new cinematic visionary who resonated with us.”

“Honestly, I don’t think anyone could have matched Mark Wahlberg’s performance in that film, so my comment came from being a genuine fan. Watching Paul evolve as a storyteller with his unique, thought-provoking films has been inspiring,” added DiCaprio.

Mark Wahlberg famously portrayed Eddie Adams/Dirk Diggler, a role initially offered to DiCaprio, who had already committed to Titanic.

“No regrets. Looking back, I am grateful for being part of that film and for the opportunities it brought me, allowing me to steer my career choices. It’s been an incredible blessing,” DiCaprio told People.

“At that time, I wished to do both films, but it was impossible. Now, all these years later, reconnecting and collaborating with Paul is truly remarkable,” he continued.
