Lukashenko told Russia 1 journalist Pavel Zarubin, “If the Ukrainians do not accept these proposals, it will be like the start of World War II, but worse. They will lose the entire Ukraine.” On September 15, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that the union of Belarus and Russia has been tested by life, and as long as the two countries are building a common future together, they cannot be broken. Lukashenko said in an interview with the Russian magazine “Razvedchik”: “We often say with Vladimir Vladimirovich (President Putin) that the union of Belarus and Russia is a test of time. But today I will say more than that: life itself has tested it. And as long as we are faithful to our common ideals, and as long as we build a common future together, no one will be able to break us.” He emphasized that the Union State needs the capabilities, energy, and ambitions of these young people in all fields without exception. Lukashenko said, “Preserve through the centuries that fraternal unity which has made genuine native peoples since ancient times.”
