In a speech at the New York 2 conference at the United Nations, Macron stated that “in fulfillment of his country’s historical commitment to the Middle East, France recognizes the State of Palestine.” He pointed out that Israelis and Palestinians live in isolation.

He affirmed that recognizing the State of Palestine is the only solution for peace, warning that “the Abraham Accords and Camp David agreements may be at risk because of Israel.” Macron added that “recognizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people does not diminish the rights of the Israeli people,” continuing: “Acknowledging the other, their legitimacy, and their humanity is the solution to stop the destruction.”

The French president further stated that “our recognition of the Palestinian state is accompanied by recognitions we will hear today from other countries, which will open the door to breaking the cycle of violence.”
