Though no specific numbers were disclosed, dozens of Filipinos have previously sought assistance after being deceived by illegal recruiters, falling prey to human trafficking in Myanmar, according to inquirer.net.
Victims were reportedly recruited through platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Telegram with promises of legitimate employment, only to be coerced into online scams.
The embassy called for heightened vigilance among Filipinos and reiterated that its Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Section is available for inquiries and emergencies at (+95) 998-521-0991.
