Media reports stated: “Rubio arrived in Israel on Sunday.” Before heading to Israel, Rubio renewed his country’s support for Israel despite strikes that received criticism from US President Donald Trump, as well as from regional and international parties.
It was indicated that “Rubio hinted during closed meetings with the Israeli side that he does not oppose annexation and that the White House will not stand in Israel’s way.” He continued: “The Israeli claims about the lack of opposition to the annexation plan raised concern in the Trump administration, which saw it as pressure to corner them.”
Earlier, the UAE warned the Trump administration and the Israeli government that the step of annexing the West Bank “would cause severe damage to the ‘Emirati-Israeli’ peace treaty and the broader Abraham Accords, and it would undermine the American president’s hopes of expanding them.”
He added: “There is concern that what happened might affect efforts to return all hostages, eliminate (Hamas), and end this war. These are the president’s priorities.” However, he stressed at the same time that this “will not change the strong and solid relationship with Israel.”
