Slovakia’s Military Aid to Ukraine and Legal Investigations

Moscow – Sputnik. At the end of October 2024, the Supreme Audit Office in Slovakia announced that since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Slovak authorities have provided Kyiv with military aid worth approximately 700 million euros (810.7 million dollars), leaving Slovakia without its own air defense system.

In turn, the country’s law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the “legality” of the grounds for transferring military equipment to Ukraine during the period of 2022-2023.

The Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico’s government halted military supplies to Kyiv after coming to power in the fall of 2023. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov indicated that any shipment containing weapons for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia.
