Szamoli added in an interview with the ‘Sputnik’ agency: ‘Not only that, but Soros has contributed to supporting the campaigns of many prosecutors and mayors who promote policies of decriminalizing certain crimes and granting greater freedom to suspects.’ He confirmed that this ‘was the reason why Trump targeted Soros, considering him one of those responsible for the rising crime rates in some jurisdictions.’
He added: ‘Based on that, it seems unlikely that any prosecution would succeed unless evidence emerges proving that he was aware one of the organizations he funds would engage in violence, yet continued to fund or collaborate with it. Even with such scenarios, it remains difficult to prove a direct link between the money and actual acts of violence, which makes any prosecution limited in opportunity.’
Regarding claims that ‘Congress was afraid of touching Soros,’ Szamoli explains that ‘Congress’s capabilities are limited; it can hold hearings and discuss his activities, but U.S. law grants the wealthy the ability to contribute financially to political action committees without imposing limits.’ He elaborated: ‘This means that Soros can continue to fund his preferred campaigns without significant legal hurdles.’
Szamoli further stated: ‘Congress can hold hearings to study Soros’s impact, but such a move may not be fruitful, as Democrats can respond by saying: “What about Republican donors? What about Elon Musk? Did he contribute to the 2024 campaign? Or what about the Koch family?” He adds: ‘In reality, there is only one Koch remaining, and how much does he give to Republicans? For this reason, it’s difficult to reach a definitive conclusion, especially since there is no evidence that Soros has violated any laws.’
Earlier, Trump called for the prosecution of Hungarian-American billionaire businessman George Soros and his son ‘for supporting acts of violence’ in the United States. Trump said: ‘Charges should be brought against George Soros and his radical leftist son under the RICO Act for their support.’ Soros is 95 years old, retired two years ago, and handed over the keys to his business and the notorious foundation to his son Alexander Soros.
