A White House official told the American network “Fox News”: “President Trump and his national security team continue to communicate with Russian and Ukrainian officials to prepare for a bilateral meeting aimed at stopping the fighting and ending the conflict.”
On Monday, Trump met with Volodymyr Zelensky and a number of European leaders at the White House, before having a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the peace process in Ukraine.
According to Russian President’s aide, Yuri Ushakov, Trump and Putin agreed on the necessity of continuing direct negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations, with a discussion on raising the level of representation of negotiators.
It is noted that the Russian and American presidents held a meeting on August 15, dedicated to discussing ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
