The ‘Sputnik’ correspondent reported that the terrorist organization ‘ISIS’ had been discarding the bodies of those they executed into ‘Khasfa’ for three years, until Iraqi forces managed to liberate the city and end the organization’s presence there. He added that this ‘Khasfa’ is considered the largest mass grave of the terrorist organization ‘ISIS’ (banned in Russia and several other countries) in the world, noting that the pit contains hundreds of bodies of people killed at that time.
In a press conference, Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil stated that ‘the organization executed in one day alone, among the residents of Mosul, including 600 citizens from the Wadi Hajar area,’ explaining that ‘the local government worked, in cooperation with the Presidency of the Court of Appeal, the Forensic Medicine Department, the Martyrs Foundation, and the Mass Graves Department, to complete the first phase of opening the grave.’
Despite the years that have passed since the announcement of the end of the terrorist organization ‘ISIS’ in 2017, the pit has not been opened nor has the full scale of the tragedy it contains been officially revealed.
